Introduction by Samuel S. Epstein, M.D., of  the Los Angeles, CA., opening of a Local Office of the Cancer Prevention Coalition

May, 2001

As Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition and emeritus Professor of Environmental Medicine at the University of Illinois School of Public Health, Chicago, Illinois, I am pleased to introduce  Shelley R. Kramer as the Director of your Local Cancer Prevention Coalition Office.   Our local Office Directors and designated representatives may contact you for contributions, and  to participate in fundraising, membership drives and in education regarding avoidable causes of cancer.

The goal of the Cancer Prevention Coalition is to create safer environments at home, in the community and at work. Since its inception in July of 1994, this unique organization of independent cancer prevention experts, citizen activists, and environmental and women's health groups has endeavored to reduce escalating cancer rates. This is accomplished through a comprehensive strategy of outreach, public education and advocacy, and public policy initiatives to establish prevention as the nation's foremost cancer policy.

Thank you for your interest and support.

Samuel S. Epstein, M.D.
